The Class 1A Boys Basketball Area 14 Tournament championship game will be a rivalry showdown.
Top-seeded Skyline will play second-seeded Woodville in the tournament finals Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. at Skyline High School after both posted semifinal wins on Monday.
Class 1A No. 4-ranked Skyline (28-3) cruised past fourth-seeded Gaylesville 77-34 while second-seeded Woodville (16-13) downed third-seeded Valley Head 75-44.
It’s the second straight season the teams have met in the area finals. Both teams earned a sub-regional berth thanks to Monday’s wins.
Skyline bolted to a 28-6 after one quarter and led 51-15 at halftime and 75-28 after three quarters.
Kordell Talley and Jaxen White scored 16 points each for the Vikings while Jaylon Clements had 11, Collin Lockard 10, Dawson Wynn nine and Austin Hollingsworth six.
Kyler Bradley scored 15 points and Luke Reynolds added six for Gaylesville (0-20).
Meanwhile, Woodville opened up a 19-4 lead after one quarter on the way to victory. The Panthers led 31-17 at halftime and 45-32 after three quarters.
Jackson Peek scored a game-high 37 points for the Panthers, who also got 11 from Caleb Dolberry, nine from Abel Sisk and six from Da’Vion Johnson.
Jordan Burt scored 12 points and Charles Fletcher netted nine for Valley Head (3-16) while Marlonn Trinidad and David Hatfield had six each.
