Scottsboro indoor track and field teams posted a pair of top-five finishes during the Class 1A-5A Ice Breaker Invitational on Friday at the Birmingham Crossplex.

Scottsboro finished third (61 points), just 1.5 points out of tying for first, in the varsity boys division while finishing fifth in the varsity girls division (29 points). Ramsay and Hattiesburg (Mississippi) tied for the Class 1A-5A varsity boys title while St. James (48 points) of Montgomery edged Whitesburg Christian of Huntsville by three points for the 1A-5A varsity girls division crown.

The SHS boys had a pair of event victories. Hayden Judge won the 1600-meter run (4:37.54) while also teaming with Zach Avenel, Rex Green and Ben Gossett to win the 4x800-meter relay (8:12.82).

Scottsboro's 4x800 'B' team also medaled in the event, as Noah Bonsall, Josue Vela Castillo, Brady Thomas and Ridge Wells finished second with a time of (9:00.03).

Scottsboro had four top-15 finishes in the 3200-meter run. Evan Hill finished second (10:00.12), Green was fourth (10:06.49), Castillo was eighth (10:43.61) and Josh Hill was 14th (11:10.89). Meanwhile, Avenel finished second (2:06.54), Noah Bonsall fourth (2:07.84) and  Gossett 12th (2:12.30) for Scottsboro in the 800-meter run while Brandon Cloud finished 14th in the 400 (54.79 seconds). The Scottsboro 4x400-meter relay team  finished fifth (3:50.08).

In the field events, Alex Cantrell medaled with a third-place finish in the triple jump (38 feet, 9 inches) for the Wildcats. Nathan Jones turned in a fifth-place finish in the shot put (43-01) while Logan Roberts finished 10th in the high jump (5-02).

For the SHS girls, Anna Carlson, Isabelle Flores, Isabella Noble and Lauren Paradise teamed up for a second-place finish in the 4x800-meter relay (10:42.94). Meanwhile, the 4x400 team also medaled with a third-place finish (4:34.30).

Scottsboro had three runners post top-10 finishes in the 3200-meter run, as Maddie Gossett finished third (12:27.74), Emma Bradford fifth (12:52.16) and Cadence Laughlin ninth (13:52.78). Mabry Bonsall finished 10th (5:58.86) and McCall Chandler was 18th (6:23.28) in the 1600 and Flores was 16th (1:05.83) and Paradise 17th (1:06.16) in the 400 while Noble was 19th (2:46.08) and Cambree Bradford 20th (2:46.89) in the 800.

In the field events, Alyssa Bell (4-08) and Emily Littles (4-02) finished fourth and 12th respectively in the high jump while Emily Fortson (27-04) and Amy Roberts (26-05.5) were 10th and 13th respectively in the shot put.
