The Scottsboro volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to a couple of state volleyball powers on Tuesday.
The Wildcats dropped a 25-16, 25-10, 25-11 decision to Class 5A No. 3-ranked Guntersville and a 25-9, 25-21 match to 4A No. 2 Jacksonville during a tri-match at GHS.
The match with Guntersville was also a Class 5A Area 14 contest for Scottsboro (3-6, 0-3).
“I think that we are playing well in spurts. We have had a tendency to allow one bad play for one point to snowball into successive bad plays and multiple points [for opponents],” Scottsboro head coach Patrick Kritner said. “We are having a hard time forgetting the last play and focusing on the next one. We are a good volleyball team. If we can take the next step mentally that will show up more on the scoreboard and we will win more matches. We are capable, we just have to have more confidence.”
Against Guntersville, Abby Jones recorded five kills and 13 blocks for Scottsboro while Megan Vosen had 14 assists and Anna Lusk had 16 digs.
Megan Vosen recorded eight assists and six digs for the Wildcats against Jacksonville while Blake Collins had four kills and Lusk had eight digs.
Scottsboro travels to Crossville today at 4:30 p.m. for another area match.
