The Scottsboro baseball team added two victories to its win column on Thursday.
The Wildcats posted a pair of 11-1 victories over visiting Geraldine at Scottsboro High School.
Scottsboro (4-2) won the opening game in six innings. Kyle Murphy hit a three-run homer for the Wildcats while Peyton Grant was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and Reed Latimer was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Riley Bennett had a two-run double and Christian Herberholz singled and walked twice while Lane Pitts doubled, Camden Matthews singled and Brody Hyde had an RBI.
Herberholz got the win on the mound, pitching three scoreless innings and recording six strikeouts. Latimer pitched two scoreless innings and struck out three while Hyde struck out two in one inning.
In Game 2, Scottsboro scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to invoke the mercy rule. Latimer and Ethan Wininger both doubled and drove in two runs for the Wildcats while Grant had two hits and one RBI, Dalton Wood had an RBI double and Ethan Clark had two hits.
Pitts recorded four strikeouts over four innings to get the win on the mound for Scottsboro. Everett Loveless struck out one while pitching one inning in relief.
North Jackson 28, Pisgah 2 — At Pisgah, the Chiefs hit four home runs and totaled 22 hits in all en route to the win on Thursday.
Jody Moore went 4-for-6 with three homers and seven RBIs for North Jackson (6-1). He hit a solo, a two-run and a three-run homer and had an RBI double.
Logan Morris went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs and John Matthews was 3-for-5 with four RBIs and four runs scored while Macklin Guess was 2-for-5 with four RBIs and Brandon Poole had three hits, two RBIs and four runs scored.
Cade Bellomy had two hits, was hit by a pitch twice, drove in two runs and scored three runs while Carter Gass had two hits, was twice hit by a pitch and scored two runs. Dalton Moore singled, scored two runs and drove in a run and Landon Barnes singled and scored a run while Jordan Eakin singled, was hit by a pitch three times and scored a run and Jordan Cooper walked twice and scored two runs.
Matthews pitched three innings and got the win on the mound for the Chiefs. He recorded nine strikeouts while allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits. Gass pitched two shut-out innings and struck out five.
Wyatt Whisenant had a two-run triple for Pisgah (2-2) while John Barrett singled.
Valley Head 14, Woodville 2 — At Woodville, the Panthers dropped their season opener to Class 1A Area 15 foe Valley Head on Thursday.
Valley Head (2-1, 1-0) built a 5-2 lead after four innings before putting the game way with a nine-run top of the seventh.
Woodville (0-1 in area play) scored both of its runs in the fourth inning when Blake Lands and Jacob Chambers scored on Logan Boggs’ two-run single. Lands singled for the Panthers while Chambers walked. Lands pitched 6 1/3 innings for Woodville and recorded six strikeouts.
Ider 14, Woodville 1 — At Woodville, visiting Ider built an 8-1 lead after two innings en route to the victory on Thursday.
Camron Talley went 2-for-3 with a double for Woodville (0-2) while Blake Lands singled, walked and scored a run.
