A rival spoiled the Scottsboro varsity boys golf team’s season opener.

Host Fort Payne shot a 165 and edged Scottsboro by 24 strokes during a nine-hole match at Terrapin Hills Country Club in Fort Payne on Thursday.

Matt Croft shot a 43 and Kyle Price shot a 44 for Scottsboro while Chase Berry carded a 49 and John Bone shot 53.

Scottsboro plays its first home match at Goose Pond Colony’s Lake Course this afternoon. It’s a tri-match that also includes Arab and Douglas.
