The North Sand Mountain football team is set to make history Friday night.

The Bison will play in the AHSAA state playoff quarterfinals for the first time in school history when they visit No.3-ranked Collinsville in a Class 2A matchup.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Chad Hawkins Field in Collinsville.

The game is rematch between Class 2A Region 8 rivals. NSM (9-3) is the No. 3 seed from the region while Collinsville (11-1) is the No. 2 seed.

Collinsville defeated the Bison 54-28 back on Sept. 6.

Both teams posted second-round wins over Region 6 teams last week.

NSM dispatched Westbrook Christian 35-13 while Collinsville edged No. 2 Ohatchee 21-14.

The NSM-Collinsville winner plays either defending state champion and top-ranked Fyffe — the Region 8 No. 1 seed — or No. 4-ranked Red Bay in the state semifinals on Nov. 29. If it advances, NSM would host  Red Bay but travel to Fyffe.
