Carlos Torres and Woodville take on undefeated Appalachian Friday night.

The Woodville football team looks to play the role of spoiler this week.

The Panthers travel to southern Blount County intent on handing Appalachian its first loss of the season when the teams face off Friday night.

The game is set for 7 p.m. at Appalachian’s James E. Carr Stadium.

Woodville (1-3) is coming off a 54-14 win over Gaylesville while Appalachian is a surprising 4-0 after enduring a 1-9 season a year ago. The Eagles’ wins came against Southeastern-Blount 34-32, Coosa Christian 49-19, Talladega County-Central 44-6 and Victory Christian 34-20.

Dual-threat quarterback Noah Harris has accounted for more than 800 yards of total offense and 10 touchdowns. Harris is 27-of-50 passing for 564 yards and six touchdowns while rushing for 265 yards and four scores on 48 carries. Chase Payne is Appalachian’s leading rusher with 456 yards and seven touchdowns on 77 carries. Gabe Smith and Jake Hammond both have 12 catches for 259 and 234 yards respectively. Smith had three touchdowns and Hammond two.
