The North Sand Mountain boys golf team is in position to win a state championship.

NSM holds a six-shot lead entering Tuesday's second and final round of the Class 1A-2A Boys State Golf Tournament at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail’s Capitol Hill Senator Course in Prattville.

NSM finished Round 1 on Monday with a team score of 361, six shots in front of second-place Donoho (367). Brantley was third (416).

The top four scores for each five-player team count toward the team scores.

Hunter Vest led the Bison effort in Round 1 with an 86. The senior’s round included one birdie and eight pars. 

Jordan Moon recorded six pars and shot an 89 for NSM while Jarrett Hill had three pars and shot 92. Noah Higdon had two pars and one bride to close with a 94 while Tanner Stone had two pars and shot 100.

Jacob LeCroy shot 76 and Harrison Hughston shot 78 for Donoho, which also got an 89 from Holden Abernathy, a 125 from Bradley Goodson and a 134 from Sam Payne. 

For Brantley, Ethan Weed shot a 90 while Luke Kilcrease shot a 96, Job Bush a 114, Walt Johnson a 116 and Bo Cook a 117.
