Paige Giles is one of 14 Scottsboro athletes who qualified for the state meet during sectionals.

The Scottsboro High School swimming teams will be well represented at state.

A total of 14 swimmers and two divers will compete for Scottsboro in the 2019 AHSAA Swimming and Diving Championships this coming weekend at Auburn University.

The state meet begins Friday and concludes on Saturday.

Both Scottsboro teams recorded sectional runner-up finishes.

Scottsboro was the runner-up in the Class 1A-5A girls runner-up (218) points behind sectional champion Whitesburg Christian (360). 

In the varsity boys division, Scottsboro (299) was second behind defending state champion Boaz (401).

State qualifying athletes for Scottsboro were Mary Cook, Paige Giles, Paige Megehee, Paula Nunez, Olyvia Stone, Luke Armour, Jake Benson, Minh Le, Gabe Lyle, Arlen Parr, John Dalton Sanders, Harrison Stone, Levi Webb and Kaje Jordan.

Scottsboro had 19 swimmers compete at sections (39 entries in 23 events) with 17 swimmers (26 entries in 22 events) reaching race finals.
