The Scottsboro wrestling team posted a 3-1 record during the James Clemens Duals Saturday in Madison.
The Wildcats opened with wins over Class 7A schools Sparkman 60-15 and Florence 54-12 before edging Centennial (Tennessee) via tiebreaker after the dual finished in a 42-all tie. Scottsboro’s lone loss came to Arlington (Tennessee) 42-31.
Ten Scottsboro wrestlers posted wins against Sparkman, including seven via pin. Mason McKenzie at 106 pounds, Clinton Stewart at 113, Tanner Shelton at 152, Conner Calfee at 160, Damian Ramirez at 170, Kolton Clark at 182 and Caleb Anderson each posted wins via pin. Aaron Clark at 138, Tre Billingsley at 195 and Bradford Womack picked up forfeit wins.
McKenzie, Stewart, Ramirez, Clark, Billingsley, Womack and Russell Proctor (132) recorded wins via pin as the Wildcats cruised to the victory over Florence. Calfee won a 4-3 decision at 160 while Clark and Anderson picked up forfeit wins.
Against Centennial, McKenzie, Calfee, Clark, Anderson and Womack notched pinfall victories while Stewart and Ramirez won via forfeit.
Against Arlington, McKenzie, Stewart, Ramirez and Billingsley each got a win via pin while Anderson won an 11-2 major decision and Womack won a 2-1 decision.
Scottsboro returns to action tonight when it hosts James Clemens tonight at 5:30 p.m. at Carter Gymnasium.
