The Class 5A No. 10-ranked Scottsboro varsity boys basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak with a strong effort on the road.
The Wildcats fended off host DAR for a 75-70 victory Tuesday night in Grant.
Scottsboro (9-4) trailed 17-14 after one quarter before outscoring DAR 25-14 in the second to build a 39-31 halftime lead. The Wildcats led 53-45 after three quarters.
Freshman Parker Bell scored a team-high 21 points while B.J. Harris netted 15 and Jared Cooper added 13 for Scottsboro, which also got seven from JaVaris Branford and five from Jordan Davis.
Landon Harbin scored 14 of his game-high 27 points in the fourth quarter for DAR (5-6), which also got 20 from T.J. Leonard and 12 from Nick Hardin.
North Jackson 75, Dade County (Ga.) 67 — At Stevenson, the Chiefs held off their out-of-state foe’s late rally attempt Tuesday night for win No. 10 of the season.
North Jackson (10-2) led 16-10, 39-32 and 64-50 at the quarter breaks.
Brady Cunningham scored 24 points for the Chiefs while Tyrus Jackson netted 14 and Zeke Ballard added 13. Carter Gass and Cade Reed pitched in six points each while Trevor Anderson had five.
Austin Holcomb scored 14 points for Dade County (2-7) while Gabe Costley and Ethan Webber netted 10 each.
North Jackson 49, Dade County (Ga.) 47 — At Stevenson, the Chiefs picked up their seventh win in their last eight games in a down-to-the-wire win Tuesday night.
North Jackson (7-5) trailed 11-9 after one quarter but was in front 24-21 at halftime and 34-33 after three quarters. After North Jackson made a free throw to extend its lead to 49-47 in the final seconds, Dade County committed a turnover as time expired.
Sarah Morgan led North Jackson with 14 points while Summer Varnum netted 11, Alexis Moore nine, Hadley Burnette six and Delana Pierce five.
Tori Williams scored a game-high 26 points for Dade County (7-2).
DAR 54, Scottsboro 50 — At Grant, the Wildcats fell to host DAR Tuesday night.
Scottsboro (7-7) trailed 14-11, 25-22 and 40-39 at the quarter breaks.
Audrey Holland scored a game-high 23 points for the Wildcats, who also got 10 from Carley Bell and eight each from Maggie Armstrong and Olivia Tubbs.
Niah Stegman scored 20 points and Victoria Nickell added 12 for DAR (6-5).
