Scottsboro opened the 2019 Outdoor Track and Field season with victories.
The Scottsboro girls and SHS boys took the team titles during the Wildcat Relays Friday at Trammell Stadium.
Scottsboro edged Fort Payne 32-31 to win the varsity girls division. Scottsboro won the varsity boys division with 37 points, 14 better than runner-up Hartselle. Athletes from seven teams participated in the meet.
The Scottsboro girls got first-place finishes from Isabel Wynn in the long jump (15-00.75 feet), Emma Hancock in the triple jump (32-06), Lauren Hamm in the pole vault (9-06) and Aaliyah Scott-Sexton in the shot put (33-07).
Scott-Sexton also finished second in the discus (81-09) while Hancock was second in the long jump (14-09) and Makayla Keel second in the pole vault (8-06). Ally Campbell finished second (6:14.63), Gossett third (6:14.95) and Amber Littles fourth (6:26.82) in the one-mile run while Alyssa Bell and Wynn tied for third (4-10) and Hamm was fifth (4-08) in the high jump. Halie Allen finished fourth in the long jump (14-01.75) while Rainy Hicklen was fifth in the discus (74-09) and Shirley Dubose fifth in the shot put (27-08).
Scottsboro’s sprint medley relay team of Brylee Hill (100 meters), Lauren Paradise (100 meters), Wynn and Alyssa Bell (400 meters) won with a time of 2:03.13. The distance medley relay team of Chandler (1200-meters), Emily Littles (400 meters), Gossett (800 meters) and Isabella Noble (1600 meters) posted a third-place finish (14:00.66).
On the boys side, Scottsboro’s Christian Huston (12 feet) and Maddox Hamm (11 feet) finished first and second respectively in the pole vault while Nate Boleware (20-08.5) on the long jump and Cooper Atkins was first (4:37.40), Judge second (4:38.38), Vela Castillo fourth (4:47.10) and Rex Green fifth (4:53.10) in the one-mile run.
In the distance medley relay, Benson Atkins (1200 meters), Green (400 meters), Judge (800 meters) and Cooper Atkins (1600) won with a time of 10:53.26. In the sprint medley relay, Scottsboro’s Noah Linville (100 meters), Camden Skipper (100 meters), Boleware (200 meters) and Brandon Cloud (400 meters) finished second with a time of 1:43.82.
Nathan Jones added a runner-up finish for Scottsboro in the shot put (43-03) while Boleware finished fourth in the triple jump (38-03) and Rio Reyes was fourth in the high jump (5-08).
Some of the relay races were girls and boys co-ed relay teams.
The mixed 4x100 relay team of Cloud, Lauren Paradise, Skipper and Emma Hancock posted a winning time of 50.14 seconds, and the mixed 4x400 relay team of Hancock, Cloud, Wynn and Boleware won with a time of 3:57.31 while the 4x800-meter relay team (girls and boys) of Maddie Gossett, Josue Vela Castillo, McCall Chandler and Hayden Judge finished second (2:03.13).
Scottsboro returns to the track on Saturday (9 a.m.) for the Huntsville Invitational at Milton Frank Stadium.
