Former Scottsboro head coach has been named the new head coach at Central-Phenix City after spending the last three seasons at Pinson Valley.

A former Scottsboro head football coach is the new boss at one of Class 7A’s top programs.

Patrick Nix, who coached Scottsboro from 2013-16, was officially hired as Central-Phenix City High School’s head coach on Wednesday.

Nix, a former Auburn quarterback whose son Bo Nix is Auburn’s current starter, was the head coach at Pinson Valley the last three years where he led the Indians to the 2017 and 2018 Class 6A state titles.

Nix finished 28-18 with four playoff appearances during his four-year tenure at Scottsboro. His final Scottsboro team was ranked No. 1 in Class 5A in the season’s final ASWA rankings, won the Class 5A Region 7 championship and advanced to the state quarterfinals on the way to a school-record best 12-1 record.
