The North Jackson girls basketball team’s early-season struggles are now firmly in the past.
The Chiefs won their fifth straight game by cruising past visiting Oakwood Adventist Thursday night.
North Jackson (5-4) raced in front 24-5 after one quarter and led 47-22 at halftime and 71-26 after three quarters.
Alexis Moore led a balanced North Jackson scoring attack with 14 points. The Chiefs also got 12 points each Arielle Haynes and Delana Pierce, 11 from Summer Varnum, eight from Hadley Burnette, six from Sarah Morgan and four from Paige Dunn.
North Jackson 85, Oakwood 45 — At Stevenson, North Jackson extended its winning streak to six with a convincing win Thursday night.
The Chiefs were in front 20-16 after one quarter and 46-30 at halftime before outscoring Oakwood 29-10 in the third quarter to carry a 75-40 lead into the fourth.
Tyrus Jackson totaled 21 points and three assists for North Jackson (8-1) while Zeke Ballard had 13 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and seven steals and Eli Gill had 12 points, three assists and three steals.
Cade Reed had 10 points while Ayson Quinn and Alex Roper had seven points each for the Chiefs, and Trevor Anderson had six points, five rebounds and four steals and Brady Cunningham had six points and five steals.
