The Pisgah varsity boys cross country team closed its season with a 10th-place finish in the Class 3A state race during the AHSAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Oakville Indian Mounds Park and Museum.
Senior Garrett Ellison led the Eagles with a 27th-place finish (18:12.45) while Zach Cornelio was 46th (18:48.24), Tanner Baine 60th (19:14.65), Trey Barrentine 100th (20:21.62), Dalton Wilson 113th (20:41.58), Bryant Overdear 144th (22:12.06), Holden Goff 146th (22:16.93), Jake Smith 156th (23:10.87), Mason Overdear 159th (23:26.47) and Bailey Johnson 166th (25:23.15).
Meanwhile, Pisgah finished 15th in the Class 3A girls standings.
Senior Cecilia Garner finished 60th (23:19.27) for the Eagles while Lauren Peek was 70th (23:26.90), Rhylee Bell 75th (23:38.71), Kaylynn Morgan 82nd (23:54.43), Riley Grider 83rd (23:54.47), Briley Hembree 89th (24:09.40), Ally Darwin 98th (24:25.89), Emma Ellison 99th (24:27.93), Madison Phillips 117th (24:56.99) and Katie Guffey 129th (25:21.11).
Section finished 13th in the Class 1A-2A girls standings.
Jennifer Vega led the Lions with a 21st-place finish (22:50.04), Cindel Myers 44th (24:12.19), Madison Armstrong 105th (17:07.08), Morgan Armstrong 114th (27:35.53) and Makayla Rowell 135th (32:19.38).
Skyline’s Joslyn Boatwright, running as an individual, finished 117th (27:53.67).
Meanwhile, Skyline finished 16th in the Class 1A-2A boys race on Saturday.
Kordell Talley led the Vikings with a 65th-place finish (19:55.87). Nathan Olinger finished 109th (20:57.85), Bryant Kennamer 123rd (21:36.69), Trever Saint 139th (22:30.12), Tristan Roach 145th (22:39.77), JT Hastings 154th (24:38.85), Levi Wilkinson 156th (25:27.49) and Daniel Olinger 161st (30:28.18).
Running as an individual in the 1A-2A boys, North Sand Mountain’s Josue Luna finished 62nd (19:54.25). He was the school’s first runner to compete at state.
