The Pisgah varsity boys basketball team used a season-high point total to score its first area win of the season.
Pisgah eclipsed the 100-point plateau for the first time this season during a 105-77 Class 3A Area 15 victory over visiting Geraldine Tuesday night.
Pisgah (4-5, 1-1) trailed 29-26 after one quarter, but the Eagles outscored Geraldine 30-10 in the second quarter to build a 56-39 halftime advantage. The Bulldogs cut the Pisgah lead to 75-67 after three quarters, but Pisgah dominated the fourth to secure the win.
Austin Brown scored 24 points, Nate Cornelison netted 23 and Jared Wilks added 22 for the Eagles, who also got 10 points from Rhyan Barrett, eight points each from Austin Thornhill and Austin Brunk and six from Zach Cornelison. Wilks also had seven steals and three assists, Brown had five assists, seven rebounds and five steals and Nate Cornelison had three assists and four steals.
Griffin Knight scored 22 points for Geraldine (4-6, 0-2) while Colton Lusher and Jaxon Colvin had 14 each.
Fyffe 62, NSM 48 — At Fyffe, the host Red Devils slowed the game to a crawl for the up-tempo North Sand Mountain on the way to the Class 2A Area 15 win Tuesday night.
NSM (4-3, 0-2) trailed led 10-8 after one quarter before Fyffe (8-0, 2-0) stretched its advantage to 25-14 at halftime and 40-25 after three quarters.
Luke Maples led NSM with 19 points while
Parker Godwin scored 17 points, Gabe Gardner netted 16 and Tate Goolesby pitched in 11 for the Red Devils.
Sylvania 87, Section 78 — At Section, visiting Sylvania rallied from a 14-point halftime deficit to defeat the Lions on Tuesday.
Section (7-4) trailed 20-13 after one quarter before outscoring the Rams 34-13 in the second quarter for a 47-33 halftime lead. But Sylvania (4-4) tied the game at 64-all after three quarters before outscoring the Lions 23-14 in the final frame.
Logan Patterson led four Section players in double figures with 20 points. Matthew Brewster netted 16 while Gabe Hilley had 15 and Alex Guinn had 10. Kaden Bradford pitched in nine.
Austin Traffenstedt scored a game-high 26 points for Sylvania while Jarrett Hill had 16, Joshua Tinker 13 and Grant Atchley 11.
