Six Scottsboro cross country runners posted strong finishes during the Nike Cross Nationals Southeast Regional in Cary, North Carolina on Saturday.

Scottsboro finished 15th in the team standings with 443 points. Loudon Valley (Virginia) was the team champion with a low score of 80.

Cooper Atkins, the 2019 Class 5A individual state champion, was Scottsboro’s top finisher with an 11th-place finish. The junior’s time was 15:22.30. He missed a Top-10 finish by less than one second. The winner was Graham Blanks of Athens (Georgia) Academy, whose winning time was 14:57.70.

Meanwhile, Evan Hill finished 129th (16:20.40) while Rex Green was 158th (16:31.80), Zach Avenel 169th (16:36.50), Ben Gossett 213th (16:56.60) and Noah Bonsall 235th (17:14.90). 

Scottsboro runners race in Footlocker Cross Country South Regional —  At Charlotte, North Carolina a pair of Scottsboro cross country runners raced in the Footlocker Cross Country South Regional’s 13-14 boys race on Saturday.

Hamilton Richardson posted a 30th-place finish with a time of 17:59.00 while teammate Stephen Jones finished 45th with a time of 18:24.
