HIGDON — The North Sand Mountain football team rebounded from a tough region loss with a dominant effort.
The Bison scored six touchdowns in the first quarter and cruised from there to a 44-0 Homecoming victory over visiting Class 2A Region 8 opponent Asbury Friday night at NSM’s Lloyd Dobbins Field.
NSM (2-1, 1-1) improved to 2-0 all-time against the Rams.
The Bison built a 37-0 lead in the first quarter. Lake Bell caught a 55-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Landon Green for NSM’s first score, which was followed by Damon Gentle’s 19-yard touchdown run for a 13-0 lead.
Green then hit Jayden Culpepper for a 67-yard touchdown pass, and after Cade McBryar’s 37-yard touchdown run, Green connected with Bell for touchdown passes of 31 and 48 yards.
McBryar’s 13-yard touchdown run in the second quarter closed the scoring.
Green completed all six of his pass attempts for 258 yards and four touchdowns.
Bell caught four passes for 169 yards and three scores while McBryar ran for 56 yards on three carries.
NSM finished with 361 total yards on 28 offensive plays. Asbury (1-3, 0-2) was held to 66 total yards on 51 plays.
NSM hits the road next week for another region game at Sand Rock.
