Scottsboro’s Wet ‘n’ Wildcats got a tougher than expected battle from an improving Albertville Gators squad Monday evening in Albertville.

The meet was tied after the third event (short freestyle). However, the Wildcats dominated the Breaststroke and pulled away to a 398-327 victory.

The host’s shallow six-lane pool and unusual gutters gave SSA’s younger swimmers trouble. Fortunately, the Scottsboro veterans stepped up to carry their teammates.

SSA barely managed to win over half (35) of the 64 individual events, but Ryder Linville, Izzy Nelson, Lily Turlington, Cullen Roberts, Clay Giles, Maggie Ella Robbins and Kyle Vosen racked up 21 win between them with sweeps of their three individual races.

Arlen Parr, Aiden Goggan, Paige Giles and Noah Linville contributed two wins each. Miles Hodges, Olyvia Stone, Jessica Vincent, Tony Pereira, Staton Robbins and Bethany Dugan accounted for the final Wildcat wins.

After splitting the Medley Relay events, Scottsboro rallied to win all but 3 of the 12 freestyle relay races to end the meet.

Also scoring with second- and/or third-place swims were Eli Armour, Ada Benson, Cora White, Keyton Allen, Jacob Fanning, Dylan Phillips, Morelia Calderon-Diaz, Baylie Giles, Joseph Gardner, Trip Nelson, Les White, Preston Worley, Amelia Armour, Kate Gomez, Alice Merck, Luke Armour, Brady Peek, Harrison Stone, Grayson Gattis, Shelton Linville, Diana Swain, Zac Cushman, Abby Ray, Rebekah Riddle, Creed Wooden, Katharyn Sanders and Cheyenne Vincent.

Swimming well were Wes Colus, Shane Miley Edwards, Morgan Guttridge, Taylor Guttridge, Eli Glass, Nina Gardner, Destiny Lewis, Sydni Lee, Linda Rudder, Holder Benson, Jeremiah Fanning, Carter Hodges, Drake Linville, Ayden Mashburn, Evan Sanders, Craft Sanders, Jake Benson, Quent Cox, Ansel Goggans, Will Porch, Troy Reichle, Bentley Allen, Kimberly Calderon-Diaz, Noelle Lee, Caroline Sanders, Jessica Simpson, Addison Thompson, Gabe Lyle, John Sanders, Lily Robertson, Abram Peek, Julia Arnold and Makenna Worley.

Scottsboro visits Arab tonight before hosting Sheffield on July 6 to close out the regular season. The ARPA Disitrict 2 meet at Albertville is July 14-15 with the ARPA State Swim Championships set for July 28-29 in Opelika.
