The Scottsboro football and track and field programs have added coaches to their respective coaching staffs.

Pat Vinson has joined the SHS football program while Matthew Black has joined the indoor/outdoor track and field programs. They were hired during Tuesday night’s Scottsboro City School Board of Education meeting.

Black will teach social science at Scottsboro High School while Vinson will teach physical education at Nelson Elementary School.

Vinson was North Jackson’s defensive coordinator from 2008-12 and served in that same position the past three seasons at Plainview. He also had two separate tenures as an assistant coach/defensive coordinator at Eufaula (2000-08 and 2013-14), where among the players he coached was former Alabama and current NFL linebacker Courtney Upshaw.

Scottsboro’s football staff previously added former North Sand Mountain and Arab head coach Adam Gilbert to its staff.
