Pisgah’s county championship reign on the volleyball court continues.
The Eagles defeated rival North Sand Mountain 25-13, 25-14 in the 2018 Jackson County Tournament championship match on Wednesday at Pisgah High School.
The Jackson County Volleyball Tournament was first held in 2015. Pisgah has won all four tournament championships.
“Happy the girls were able to keep their streak alive,” said Carey Ellison, Pisgah’s head coach for the last two county title-winning seasons. “We played pretty well. We moved well and passed well. Overall good performance.”
The Eagles bounced back to win the finals after losing to NSM 26-24, 24-26, 10-15 during round-robin play that helped set up the seedings for bracket play.
Annie Hughes recorded 10 kills for Pisgah while Molly Heard and Kacie McLaughlin had six each. Bella Bobo posted 11 assists and Hannah Duncan added eight.
Annabelle Westmoreland had three kills, four digs and one ace and Macy Smith had eigh digs and one ace for NSM while Jasmine Higdon one kills and one solo bock and Alexis Leake had one kill.
“The girls did a great job tonight and I am very proud of them,” said NSM head coach Samantha Alsobrook. “I know it is hard because they wanted this win for NSM and for themselves. They are already talking about next year.”
