The Scottsboro volleyball team swept its neighbor Tuesday night.
The Wildcats swept host Pisgah in a best-of-five match Tuesday night, winning 25-9, 25-23 and 25-19.
“We played really well in the first set. We had a letdown in the second set, but were able to gain the win. In the third set we had an injury and Kassidy Cunningham stepped in, played a different position, and held her own to help us finish the match,” said Scottsboro head coach Patrick Kritner. “We still have not played a complete match, but you can see improvement from the first time we played Pisgah through last night. I am very proud of the girls.”
Abby Jones recorded 10 kills and 10 blocks for the Wildcats while Nhi Le had eight kills and 10 digs. Megan Vosen closed with 21 assists and Anna Lusk had 19 digs.
The win was a good bounce back effort for Scottsboro, which suffered a 25-12, 25-16 loss to Sparkman and a 25-21, 25-14 loss to Plainview on Monday.
“I feel like we played pretty well against an extremely athletic Sparkman team. We were a little intimidated, but we played OK,” Kritner said. “Against Plainview, we played a good first set but allowed a few mistakes to snowball in the second set. You can't do that against a team as well coached as Plainview.”
