The Pisgah varsity boys basketball team came up big in the clutch.
The Eagles outscored Collinsville 8-0 over the final 1:17 to record a 64-56 win Monday night.
Pisgah (6-7) led 19-13, 36-25 and 43-40 at the quarter breaks before Collinsville (3-5) tied the game at 56-all with 1:45 remaining. The Eagles regained the lead 28 seconds later on Nate Cornelison’s two free throws, and after Collinsville missed a shot inside the lane, Zac Cornelison slipped ahead of the Panthers’ defense for a layup to give Pisgah a 60-56 lead with 1:01 remaining. Rhyan Barrett hit four free throws during the final 35 seconds as the Eagles sealed the win.
Nate Cornelison scored a game-high 27 points for Pisgah while Jared Wilks had 17 and Austin Brown had 10. Kaleb Jones scored 23 points and Isaac Jones had 22 for Collinsville.
NSM 106, Oakwood 45 — At Higdon, North Sand Mountain eclipsed the 100-point mark for the fifth time this season.
NSM (7-4) led 25-12, 60-27 and 94-36 at the quarter breaks.
Russ Marr scored 17 points and dished out six assists for the Bison and Jared Beasley and Derek Bearden (nine rebounds) scored 16 points each while Luke Maples totaled 14 points and eight assists and Lake Bell had 12 points.
