Anna Lusk had 13 digs in Scottsboro's area tournament match vs. Guntersville.


The Scottsboro volleyball team’s season came to a close Tuesday afternoon.

Top-seeded Guntersville swept the fourth-seeded Wildcats 25-5, 25-7, 25-22 during the semifinal round of the Class 5A Area 14 Tournament at GHS.

Nhi Le and Abby Jones had three kills each for Scottsboro. Jones added five blocks and Anna Lusk had 13 digs.

Guntersville advanced to the area title match, where it swept Crossville. Both teams advanced to this weekend’s North Super Regional in Huntsville.

Meanwhile, second-year Scottsboro head coach Kelly Scott said her young team — the Wildcats had only two seniors — had its “ups and downs” but believes they will be “a learning experience for our team on how we have to overcome obstacles and play to win. We have to continue working on confidence and building skills. Next season I am looking for players who want to work hard and have the desire to win.” 

North Jackson eliminated in 4A — The North Jackson volleyball team’s season ended with a semifinal round loss to Sardis in the Class 4A Area 13 Tournament at DAR on Tuesday.
