Callyn Haswell hits past North Jackson's Summer Varnum during Scottsboro's win over its archrival.

The Scottsboro volleyball team picked up a victory over its archrival.

Scottsboro defeated visiting North Jackson 25-13, 25-9 during a best-of-three match in the final match of a tri-match Thursday night at Carter Gymnasium.

The first set saw Scottsboro use a 9-2 scoring run to take control. In Set 2, the Wildcats overcame an early deficit to charge to the convincing win.

Meanwhile, Ider defeated both Scottsboro and North Jackson. Ider topped Scottsboro 25-12, 25-20 and bested North Jackson 25-5, 25-12.

Also, North Jackson’s junior varsity team fell to Scottsboro 25-8, 25-16 and Ider 25-10, 25-13.

Woodville wins program’s first area match — At Huntsville, Woodville made program history by picking up its first ever volleyball area match win in a 3-1 victory on Tuesday over Whitesburg Christian.

Woodville dropped the first set of the Class 1A Area 15 best-of-five match 27-25. The Panthers however rebounded to win the second set 25-20, the third set 25-18 and the fourth set 25-13 to take the match.

Meanwhile, the Panthers dropped an area match to Oakwood Adventist. Woodville lost the first set 26-24 and the second set 25-13. The Panthers won the third set 25-16 but lost the fourth set 25-17. 

Pisgah drops area matches — Pisgah (5-3, 0-2) lost its Class 3A Area 15 opener on Tuesday, falling 4-25, 10-25, 17-25 to No. 4-ranked Geraldine. Shalyn Smith had four service points for the Eagles while Ashley Shrader had five kills and Bela Bobo had five assists.

On Thursday, the Eagles fell 17-25,25-16,23-25, 24-26 to area foe Sylvania. Pisgah got 12 kills from Heard, nine from Shrader and seven from Womack. Bella Bobo had 28 assists.
