The top-seeded and No. 2-ranked Eagles won their third straight and fifth area championship in the past six seasons with a 63-44 victory over third-seeded Sylvania Thursday night at Pisgah High School.
Two-time defending Class 3A state champion Pisgah (26-3) will host the Area 11 runner-up, either Pleasant Valley or Piedmont, in a Class 3A Northeast Sub-regional game on Monday at 7 p.m. Sylvania (14-12) travels to play the Area 11 champion. Sub-regional winners advance to play Feb. 15 in the Northeast Regional at Jacksonville State University.
Pisgah led 19-18 after one quarter, 36-25 at halftime and 49-37 after three quarters.
Molly Heard had a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds to go with five blocked shots and two steals for Pisgah while Chloe Womack had a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds along with three steals. Madison Myers totaled 12 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals and Kallie Tinker had six points, four steals and two assists.
Kenadie Lee scored 21 points for Sylvania while Leianna Currie and Ambriel Stopyak had eight each.
