The Scottsboro junior high boys cross country team posted a top-five finish in the Jesse Owens Classic last weekend.
The Wildcats closed with a team score of 117 in the junior high boys 2-mile race division. Hewitt-Trussville won the meet with a winning low score of 73, followed by Mountain Brook (83), Auburn (98), James Clemens (116) and Scottsboro.
Hamilton Richardson led the Wildcats with a fifth-place finish (11:36.51).
Stephen Jones finished 16th (11:56.12) for Scottsboro while Johny Felix was 18th (12:03.56), River Green 39th (12:40.89), Joe Black 48th (12:51.65), Eli Sparks 79th (13:25.51), Ben Davis 89th (13:45.17), Mcgee Kilgore 95th (13:48.88), Camden Porter 121st (14:08.18), Alex Avenel 175th (15:01.55), Cole Synder 205th (15:16.23), Brady Strickland 272nd (16:01.09), John Merritt 300th (16:26.64) and Josh Laney 364th (18:04.86).
Meanwhile, running as individuals for Scottsboro in the Junior High Girls 2-mile race, Shelton Linville finished 76th (15:41.04) while Sadye Webb was 150th (17:34.50) and Emma Carlson 219th (19:58.74).
Scottsboro junior high runners next run in the Seventh-and-Eighth Grade Championships at the John R. Esslinger Trail of Champions at SHS on Monday.
