A former North Jackson High School golfer competed in one of the Alabama Golf Association's top championship tournaments last week.

Seth Foshee of Bridgeport played the first two rounds of the AGA's 102nd annual State Amatuer Championship. The tournament was held at Pine Hills Country Club in Birmingham.

Foshee, who played collegiately at Mississippi College, tied for 93rd in the 155-golfer field with a two-round score of 11-over par 155.

Foshee opened the tournament with a 7-over par 79 in Round 1 Thursday before carding a 4-over par 76 in Round 2 Friday. He missed the cut, however, which was limited to the top-60 golfers and ties after two rounds.

Matt Lorenz of Fairhope led the tournament wire-to-wire to capture the championship. He posted a four-day score of 18-under par 270, finishing five shots in front of runner-up Austin Gean of Florence (13-under par 275).
