One rough inning did in the Scottsboro baseball team.
Host Southside scored four runs in the third inning and held off the Wildcats the rest of the way for a 6-3 win Friday afternoon.
Scottsboro (4-3) opened up a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on Christian Herberholz’s RBI double plated Reed Latimer and Peyton Grant scored on a wild pitch. Latimer and Grant both reached base via Southside errors. Southside (5-7) countered with a run in the bottom of the first inning and one in the second before taking a 6-2 lead after three innings. Scottsboro added another run in the top of the seventh when Riley Bennett reached on an error and scored on a wild pitch.
Latimer, who has a 10-game hitting streak dating back to last season, went 2-for-3 with a run scored while Herberholz and Dalton Wood had one hit each.
