The Scottsboro varsity boys bowling team opened its season on a strong note.
Scottsboro defeated Westminster Christian 1,241-952 to post a season-opening win on Thursday. The total score was the highest scoring match in Scottsboro bowling program history.
“To see us come out and bowl this well early on has me extremely excited for this season,” said Scottsboro head coach Matthew Brewer.
Scottsboro’s top-five bowlers were sophomore Eli Woods’ score of 199, senior Colin Beddingfield’s 181, freshman Brody Mason’s 171, eighth-grader Dylan Chastain’s 134 and junior Zac Cushman’s 112.
Seventh-grader Tyler Eakin and eighth-grader Xavier Lassetter both helped Scottsboro win its three Baker format matches.
“They bowled extremely well. I was excited to see them help contribute in a very important way,” Brewer said.
Scottsboro’s girls and boys teams will bowl at Huntsville on Nov. 4.
