Scottsboro athletes turned in solid finishes during an appearance in one of the state's most competitive annual meets.
The Mountain Brook Invitational is one of the state's largest meets each season, attracting top teams from north and central Alabama. Scottsboro finished 19th in the varsity boys division standings with 11.50 points.
The SHS boys’ top finishes were turned in by a pair of distance runners, as Crawford Hope finished fourth (4:23.21) in the 1600 — Hope is the ranked second nationally among freshman in the 1600 — and Hayden Judge finished fourth in the 3200 (9:33.25). Judge also finished ninth (4:30.25) in the 1600.
Scottsboro also got a Top-10 finish in the pole vault by Christian Hutson. He finished eighth with a height of 11 feet, 6 inches. Maddox Hamm finished 14th in the pole vault (J11-06).
Cooper Atkins posted a 15th-place finish (4:33.81) in the 1600 and a 25th-place finish (10:17.33) in the 3200 while Benson Atkins was 18th (10:05.51) and Devin Berry 29th (10:23.31) in the 3200.
The Scottsboro 4x400-meter relay team of Elijah Moorman, Jacob Manning, Tres Sanford and Nate Boleware notched a 15th-place finish (3:43.43).
The Wildcats also got Top-40 finishes from Will Coleman, who finished 32nd (2:05.40) in the 800, while Rex Green was 32nd (10:05.51) and Josue Vela Castillo 38th (10:33.23) in the 3200 and Benson Atkins 34th (4:43.71), Bobby Parsons (4:44.60) 36th and Berry 37th (4:46.28) in the 3200. Boleware finished 38th in the 400 (52.88) and Parsons placed 40th in the 800 (2:06.53).
Meanwhile, Lauren Hamm posted the top individual finish for the Scottsboro girls team, placing 10th (8 feet) in the varsity girls division's pole vault.
Isabella Noble (12:21.84) and McCall Chandler (12:24.85) finished 12th and 13th respectively in the 3200 while the SHS girls' 4x800-meter relay team of Noble, Hannah Cloud, Courtney Cleveland and Amber Littles also posted a 12th-place finish (10:48.35). The 4x100-meter relay team of Hanna Allen, Emma Hancock, Lauren Paradise and Libby Fowler finished 13th (52.17 seconds) and the 4x400 relay team of Hancock, Paradise, Cleveland and Isabelle Flores placed 14th (4:29.28).
Isabel Wynn finished 20th (1:00.63) in the 400-meter dash and Hamm was 20th (4-10) and Alyssa Bell 24th (4-08) in the high jump while Hannah Cloud finished 21st (12:34.83) and Maddie Gossett 22nd (12:40.64) in the 3200. Anna Carlson finished 26th (52.46) in the 300-meter hurdles while Noble placed 26th in the 1600.
Carlson also finished 32nd (2:31.26) in the 800 and Amber Littles was 40th (2:33.42) while Emma Bradford finished 34th (13:32.42) in the 3200. Cloud (5:51.81) and Chandler (5:54.54) finished 38th and 40th respectively in the 1600.
Scottsboro concludes the regular season in the Huntsville Big Cat Invitational on Saturday at Milton Frank Stadium.
