The Scottsboro Swim Association Wet ‘n’ Wildcats hosted their 12th annual Sprint Medal Meet on Saturday, with visiting teams from Madison, Murfreesboro (Tennessee), Laverne (Tennessee), Decatur, Florence, Tullahoma (Tennessee), Birmingham, Gadsden and Sewanee (Tennessee) providing strong competition.

The home team answered the challenge with 13 individual event wins and a slew of second- and third-place finishes.

Maggie Ella Robbins led the way with a sweep of her five events, including a new team record in the 11-12 Girls 25-yard Freestyle.

Kyle Vosen had four wins in the 15-18 Boys age group. Also victorious for the Wildcats were Zachary Strogov, Arlen Parr, Lily Turlington and Tony Pereira.

Jessica Vincent also notched a new record in the 11-12 Girls 1650 Freestyle.

Wildcat swimmers who scored with top-eight swims included Les White, Benny Schmidt, Ayden Mashburn, Ben Bradford, Christian Swain, Harrison Stone, Jordan Sosebee, Trip Nelson, Brayden Bell, Diana Swain, Grayson Gattis, Ashton Childress, Kimberly Calderon-Diaz, Cullen Roberts, Brady Peek, Hope Harrell, Daisy Baker, Abram Peek, Cheyenne Vincent, Olyvia Stone, Zach Beason, Grace Harrell, Bethany Dugan and Stephanie Bradbury.

Also swimming well were Cora White, Chloe Stuart, Hannah Grace Shelton, Ava Kahler, Michaela Hathcock, Baylie Giles, Morelia Calderon-Diaz, Taylor Bell, Amelia Armour, Luke Armour, Grace Williams, Jessica Simpson, Rebekah Riddle, Abby Ray, Paige Giles, Creed Wooden, Will Rogers and Julia Arnold.

SSA’s 8-Under Boys and 9-10 Girls were surprisingly strong across the board, and the 15-18 Boys appear to have more college material in the pipeline.

The Wildcats will begin signups for summer season next week.

This year, Scottsboro will host the Alabama Recreation & Parks Association District 2 Championships July 15-16 and will swim a slate of eight dual meets, all at home.
