The Scottsboro volleyball team picked up a Class 5A Area 14 victory on Thursday.
The Wildcats defeated host Crossville three games to one in a best-of-five area match at CHS.
Scottsboro (4-6, 1-3) won the opening game 25-18 before losing Game 2 25-14. The Wildcats bounced back, however, wining Game 3 25-22 before taking Game 4 25-16 to close out the match.
“I thought we played very well for most of the match,” said Scottsboro head coach Patrick Kritner. “We still haven't played what I would call a complete match. However, it was a great win against a good team and a win in our area. I believe we are improving and that is great to see. I am very proud of our girls.”
Scottsboro’s Abby Jones was a force at the net, recording 16 kills and 13 blocks. Nhi Le recorded 12 kills and 25 digs and Megan Vosen had 25 assists and 15 digs while Anna Lusk had 20 digs.
Scottsboro hosts a quad-match at Carter Gymnasium Monday at 5 p.m. with Plainview, Madison County and Sparkman. The Wildcats visit Pisgah on Tuesday and host Crossville for a 5A Area 14 rematch on Thursday, Oct. 5.
NSM splits matches with Woodville, North Jackson — At Stevenson, the North Sand Mountain volleyball team split a pair of matches with Woodville and host North Jackson during a tri-match on Thursday.
NSM swept Woodville 25-23, 25-21 for its second win over the Panthers this season.
Jasmine Higdon recorded three kills, six aces and one assist for the Bison and Triston Barrett had one ace, one kill and five assists while Ariana Christopher had three kills and one ace. Alexis Leake recorded one kill, one ace and one block and Cassidy Barton had one kill while Shelby Preston had one dig.
The Bison fell two games to one to North Jackson. NSM won the first game 25-16, but the Chiefs took the second game 25-23 and the decisive third game 15-10 to win the match.
Higdon had three aces, one kill and one dig for NSM and Barrett had three aces and three assists while Barton had three aces and one kill. Willow Hale had two kills and one dig and Leake and Christopher had two kills each while Bailey Peardon had one dig.
